Types of work visa

Angola has six types of work visa categories which divide clusters of different kinds of work. There is type A to type F.

  • Type B: this type of work visa is for those who work independently and provide some kind of service or for those who work in the culture and heritage sector or sports sector.
  • Type C: If you work in the mining, oil or building sector then you fall under this type.
  • Type D: This type of work visa, falls under those who work in the fishing, aeronautical, sea and commerce industries.
  • Type E: This type of work visa is for organisations collaborating on cooperative agreements.

Requirements

All the above-mentioned types of work visas have the same set of requirements, which are:

  • A letter from the company which you’ll be working for in Angola. Addressed to the Consular and Diplomatic Mission of Angola, explaining why they chose you to fill the position and not an Angolan citizen. The letter should also confirm that no Anglan citizen could fill the position. This letter can be submitted with your CV and the CVs of the unsuccessful Angolan nationals, to prove the case and strengthen your application, but this isn’t necessary.
  • Professional and academic certificates, authenticated and translated onto Portuguese.
  • Police clearance from the applicant’s country of origin, which should also be authenticated and translated.
  • Medical examination certificate, from your country of origin, authenticated and translated into Portuguese.
  • Proof of yellow fever vaccination.
  • A statement in a form of a letter affirming that you’ll follow Angolan laws.
  • Promise of work or a work contract from the company you’ll be working for in Angola.
  • Curriculum Vitae authenticated and translated into Portuguese.
  • Recent passport-sized photo in colour, attached to the application.
  • Your original passport and a copy of it, with the last three pages left blank.
  • Copy of the Diário da República — the Official Gazette of the Republic of Angola, publishing the by-laws of the company.
  • Current proof that your taxes have been paid.
  • $250 dollars processing fee, which is non-refundable. They only allow payment through money order to the Embassy of Angola.
  • Please note that all documents must be authenticated and translated into Portuguese because Angola is a Portuguese-speaking country and that extra documents might be requested.
